Sometimes I need a little sci fi escapism and this book totally fit the bill! The Last Watch felt like a grown up Aurora Rising with it’s cast of military misfits but had more of the intergalactic battles of the Red Rising Series.
Told from a dual POV, this fast paced space story takes place over a thousand years in the future after an epic war with a now extinct alien society. The universe is ruled by the military who sends outcast soldiers (think the Night Watch from GOT) to the edge of the universe to “guard” it. Of course, disaster strikes as the universe begins to literally implode and now this ragtag crew is the last chance of survival.
Seriously, so fun and a refreshing change. I’m excited there will be more to come! Out April 20, 2021.
