Another epic Muse concert Friday in Chicago 🎸🤘 I was going to say “these guys really know how to put on a show” but that’s such a massive understatement.
It wasn’t … let’s say as “thematic” as the Drones tour, but the lineup of songs couldn’t have been more perfect. I thought the Close Encounters reference was going to be my favorite part, but then that giant friggin robot showed up… 🤖 😍
Near the end, they did a mashup of some of their harder rock songs, and it was SO AWESOME. With 8 studio albums I was worried they’d have to start cutting some of my fave tracks, but they hit on everything they normally do and then some.
And THEY PLAYED UNSUSTAINABLE I’M NOT EVEN KIDDING which is one of my fave songs from an album they rarely play tracks from at all—let’s just say I was very very excited. 👏👏👏
I’ve yet to hear Apocalypse Please though, so I guess I’ll just have to keep going to their concerts forever until they happen to add it to the lineup 🤷♀️

I’d like to say Muse is my go-to writing music, but I actively avoid listening when writing because I’m afraid of associating it with any one story. It’s my default -life- music, so I need to keep it on reserve so I can recharge my story brain 😊
Though I keep it isolated from the actual writing process, they’re very much “on brand” for my stories, with themes centering around rebellion/civil uprising, government oppression, technology, war, and science fiction. They’re at fault for many, many of my backlog of story concepts.
